Young People’s Counselling

Therapy for young people 13+

Growing up is hard enough. For young people who are neurodivergent, queer, trans, or simply navigating the complexities of identity, the gap between what they need and what the world offers can feel enormous.

At Reravel, Bri creates a therapeutic space where young people don’t have to perform or mask for another adult, and where we can gently and carefully explore what shows up for them below the surface.
Bri works directly with teens 13yo and older. For families with younger children, please look at our family support here.

Areas of Support

  • Identity & Self-Understanding: A space to explore who you are, and to build confidence and self-trust through the teenage years
  • Friendships, education and burnout :Academic stress, school refusal, autistic burnout, social dynamics, and support for young people in alternative education.
  • Family Relationships: Strengthening communication between young people and their carers, conflict at home, navigating separation or divorce, and blended families.
  • Anxiety & Social Life: Peer dynamics, loneliness, finding connection, and navigating social worlds that can feel overwhelming or exclusionary
  • Affirming Care: A dedicated space for young people who are queer, trans, disabled, or neurodivergent.

Our Collaborative Approach

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Based on Bri’s 20 years experience working with young people and their families, we don’t practice “drop-and-go” therapy. We know that a young person’s world is shaped by their family, friendships, school, and community. Depending on your family’s needs, our work together may include:

  • Joint Sessions: Facilitating honest conversations to bridge gaps in understanding.
  • Parent & Carer Support: Dedicated space for you to learn how to better support your neurodivergent or queer young person.
  • Referrals: To community and peer support groups that for your child or family
  • Systemic Check-ins: Regularly staying connected to ensure everyone is moving toward the same goals.

A Note on Privacy: For older teens and young adults who are living at home, we talk together at the outset about how we will manage privacy. This looks different in every family and for every young person, so we will decide together the best way to create a safe space with privacy for a young person to work therapeutically, while ensuring they remain supported by their network as needed.

You can book a session directly in Bri’s calendar here. Or contact us if you have more questions.

Relationships Therapy

Relationships are where we live. They are the landscapes where our patterns, wounds, and deepest needs show up most clearly.

Whether you are stuck in cycles of conflict, navigating non-monogamy, or neurodivergent relationships, therapy provides the clarity to see what is actually happening, the tools to change patterns of relating, and the agency to decide what comes next.

Specialist Areas

Bri brings over 20 years of systemic experience and lived understanding to:

  • Neurodivergent Relationships: Working with your unique sensory and communication profiles, the specific misunderstandings that arise when partners process the world differently, and the beauty of neurodivergent connection as a foundation for closeness.
  • Queer & Gender Diverse Partnerships: Affirming therapy for same-sex, trans, and non-binary relationships, centering dynamics that exist outside of heteronormative scripts.
  • ENM, Polyamory & Kink: Respecting your relationship frameworks and dynamics as valid and intentional. We focus on deepening connection, clarity, community, agency, and authenticity across all of your relational world.
  • Care Dynamics, Chronic illness & Disability: Bri understands the intersections of intimacy, caregiving, and autonomy – honouring the complexity, creativity, and closeness that emerge when care is part of how you love.
  • Conflict, Repair & Trust: Moving beyond blame and hurt to map the repetitive cycles that leave you disconnected, and learning new skills to create safety, repair and connection.

Family therapy and parenting support

Supporting families from the inside out.

Families don’t exist in a vacuum. When a child is struggling, whether with disability, neurodivergence, friendships, or the weight of a system not built for them, the whole family feels it. Too often, parents are left holding the pieces together with very little support for themselves.

At Reravel, Bri works with families to build understanding, strengthen connection, and find a way through – together. With more than 20 years of experience as a social worker supporting diverse families with complex needs, Bri focuses on the relationships and dynamics within your home, and the friction between your family and the world around you.

How We Work with Families

Bri’s approach is collaborative and flexible, shaped by what your family actually needs. Depending on the situation, this may include:

Family Therapy: Working with the whole family or parts of the family system to shift stuck patterns, improve communication, and rebuild connection.

Parent Support & Coaching: Dedicated space for parents and carers to process what they’re carrying, build confidence in their own knowledge of their child, and develop strategies that fit their actual family (not a generic checklist — actually tailored support).

Navigating Systems: Support to understand and respond to the systems around your family (e.g. NDIS, health, school) so you can advocate from a more grounded place.

Linking In: Where it’s helpful, Bri connects families with community resources, peer support, and other services — including Reravel’s occupational therapy and group programs.

For families with younger children, the work is typically with parents and carers, with the child included in sessions where it’s appropriate and useful. For families with teens, Bri likes to work with everyone together, sometimes with individual sessions with your young person too.
