Neurodiversity-affirming and gender-affirming Occupational Therapy

Your Occupational Therapist Julie Parry

Practical support in North Lakes and across Australia via telehealth.

At Reravel, we focus on the daily life things that matter to you. Whether it’s making your home work for you, or managing your energy so you can get through the day without hitting a wall, our OT, Julie Parry, provides support that makes a difference in reality, not just on paper.

  • Lived Experience: Neurodiversity-affirming and queer-safe practice is how we operate at our roots, not an add-on.
  • Clinical Depth: 18 years of qualified OT experience across NDIS, insurance, and complex community cases.
  • A Safe Space: Specialised, respectful support for the trans, gender-diverse and queer community

Occupational Therapy Appointments

Julie works one-on-one with adults and young people (14+) to build understanding of how disability, neurodivergence and chronic illness shows up in your daily life, and what to do about it.

Sessions might focus on:

  • Understanding your neurodivergence and how it affects day-to-day functioning
  • Burnout recovery and prevention, including pacing and energy management
  • Sensory needs and strategies that actually work for your environment
  • Sleep, nutrition, and daily routines
  • Community access — getting out into the world in ways that feel manageable
  • Assistive technology to increase your independence and make your environment work for you
  • Consultation across any area of daily life that matters to you and your goals

This isn’t a checklist approach. Julie starts with what’s important to you and works from there.

Parent Support

Julie loves working with parents who are trying to figure out how to support their neurodivergent families. We don’t want to give you rules, or change your child or your family. Julie will support you to work out what’s actually going on and what will help.
This might include:

  • Making sense of sensory needs and how they play out at home
  • Adjusting routines, environment, and expectations so the household can breathe
  • Pacing and meaningful activities that work for your child
  • Communication strategies that reduce conflict, meltdowns, and shutdowns
  • Understanding your child’s neurodivergence so you can respond rather than react

Julie also works directly with young people aged 14 and up, so depending on your family’s needs, sessions can involve your child, focus on you as the parent, or a combination of both.

Assessments and Reports

Julie undertakes a full range of NDIS assessments and reports, including:

  • Functional capacity assessments
  • Home and living assessments
  • Assistive technology assessments — from low-cost aids to high-cost AT applications
  • Complex home modification reports

With over two decades in the disability sector — 18 of those as a qualified OT — and extensive experience across NDIS, insurance, and aged care systems, Julie understands what these reports need to say and how to write them so they do their job. If you’re having trouble navigating processes or feel like your situation is more complex than most, Julie is well placed to help.

Send us an enquiry to organise an assessment or report. Or contact us if you have more questions.

Assistive Technology and Home modifications

Julie supports both assistive technology and home modifications, with the consultations, assessments, trials, and reports needed for funding applications across NDIS, aged care, and other schemes.

For assistive technology — things like hi-lo beds, lift chairs, manual and power wheelchairs — Julie manages the assessment and trial process, including for mid-cost and high-cost AT where trialling is required before NDIS approval.

For home modifications, Julie assesses and reports on everything from grab rails and ramps through to full bathroom fitouts, access redesigns, and lifts.

The right equipment or the right changes to your home can make a genuine difference to how independently and comfortably you live day to day. Julie’s focus is always on what will actually work for you in your space and your life.
